I've only ever used Assos. That's because I'd only ever heard of other people using Assos.
I only use it for proper/long rides. I don't use it for club runs or anything like that although with Assos knicks I don't need to. On sportives it's more of an insurance policy against discomfort. You don't want to pack because of chaffing.
