  • for next seasons track riding - need to dial in my saddle position/stem length and tighten the chain

    Nice one Sir!
Get a link outta that chain though. I want to see that wheel loving the seattube cut!

  • This is my current winter project... a charge plug freestyler spotted on the bay last week with some tasty 5 piece bmx style bars & a ti spoon saddle... good potential to make something a bit sturdier than my current bike and the ability to barspin on a 700c rim.

Stripped it down, took it to armourtex for some colour pimping based on a pile of black components I had kicking around that needed a new home.

Armourtex did a great job as usual & turned it around in 3 days, it's all just waiting to be assembled with a beer in hand, my favorite bit.

I've got a few options for wheels in my stash... will probably go for something black & sturdy with 28c conti contact sport tyres for comfort. I'll post the finished build soon.

Finished now & all glued together... already had 2 punctures & managed to rip open the tyre sidewall on Wandsworth roundabout and it's only been a couple of days.

  • Fuck me! So a turd can be polished!? Good work Nick

  • Nice, looks grrrrreat,
i love the simple black/white paint jobs.
But, i absolutely hate those handlebars.

  • Hipster! ;p

Looking very nice Guy. What's on your 'to do' list?

Needs a respray after the seattube lost the paint from the repair :-(

So whilst I am about it, new wheels, stem, bars and some powder coated bits :-)

  • I have had 2 Velosteel based wheels in the past, one of which is now gracing Gizmonds girlfriends bike! Great bits of kit, especially for a pub bike, but they weigh a fair bit

They are sweet to ride. I have ridden the coaster down to the shops a few times and I am tempted to get one for 'lazy days'

  • I know that view of the river gizmond ! You local or were you on a ride ?

Local, just down the road from my flat.

  • for next seasons track riding - need to dial in my saddle position/stem length and tighten the chain

    Very nice!!

Hopefully I won't see it at the track next year [cause I will be out in front :-) ]

  • eccentric BB or hubs FTW.

I'm gonna give it a go the way it is before I go spending that kinda money on a hub. It looks like there'll be enough movement.

  • Ed, your missus' bike is coming on a treat. I just love it. Great work.

it´s better than spending a lots of money getting a track end welded by Merican and the cost of getting the frame repainted as well.

  • FINALLY got the 25mm seat post, not a bad looking one, should come a treat when I´ll install it.

Ta Ash, I was cycling past your place of work today but you were in.

    charge's arent turds.

  • nah it`s just the freestyler model that look like a cheap HHSB from Halfraud, even thought it´s a decent bike.

  • "already had 2 punctures & managed to rip open the tyre sidewall on Wandsworth roundabout and it's only been a couple of days."

On Contis? Never would've guessed.. ;P

No no, I mean, I'm going to see if there's enough movement first, without getting a track end... it does look like quite long.

  • just out of interest, why shouldn't u use spd's on track?

  • If you don't keep your feet straight (and lots of people tend to twist around when kicking or doing powerful standing starts) they can unclip. They're ok for enduro stuff and probably a lot of training but if you're a big bugger or doing a lot of sprinting or tt starts or even pursuit starts you might want to upgrade to SPD-SL or SPD-R or something.

Bebop or speedplay = lots of float = victory.

  • found myself a nice lugged fork for the Bianchi Pista, it's perfect, lugged but not too fussy, doesn't look out of place on a modern track frame;

  • charge's arent turds.

    OK, shit then

  • FIN.

The rusty old Raleigh Flyer has transformed into a lightweight tight little town bike, exactly how I want it to be.

  • Nice work!

  • That is beautiful Ed. Your girlfriend will love it I'm sure.

  • fucking worth it, more than half the bike wouldn't happened had it not been for the London Fixed Gear Single Speed group.

    frame? LFGSS
    coaster brake hubs? LFGSS
    powercoat with glitter? LFGSS
track end and braze-on removal? LFGSS
    seat post? LFGSS
