I was always rubbish at all sports. I never 'discovered' cycling as a sport because there just wasn't a lot of it going on where I grew up--no well-known clubs etc. There are some now! I tried all sorts of things, like tennis, running, table tennis, but only re-'discovered' cycling by accident when I was 17. But even then, I never did it as a sport, only for riding everywhere on my hack bike. It was only when I got a road bike when I was 30 that I realised I wasn't such a bad bike rider. Some compensation for always being picked last! Now I mainly do road riding, with some swimming and yoga thrown in for balance.
