It's not their fault the stockfile is wrong, if they're on the cheapy offer thing, it's cos they haven't been on the profile (where things are meant to go on the shop floor) for a while, and they try to get rid of old stock that has probably been put away, then to be lost/nicked because no one will see. Most halfords' are shit yeah, but it's not their fault they can't find the things.
I work in Halfords, and i will tell you pretty much anything you need to know, likewise with 3/6 of the part timers, and the other full timer. There's also a very good dude in the gravesend store who probably knows more than anyone ever (i've been told about him, and no one can rate him highly enough) so you do get the odd decent store.
