Seagull Bags

  • I couldn't find anything on these guys already on here, so anyone know if they still exist and does anyone have any experience with them and/or their bags?

    http://seagullbags.com/black/

The black bag looks ace, and pretty cheap, thoug some of the customised ones are pretty kooky

  • S'Funny, a bunch of us were standing around this pm discussing bags, and Seagull came up. Not rated by messengers. Although they are nice people.

The bag of choice amongst London's messengers is Bagaboo - right price for the features, according to them. Not a patch Archie's obviously, but...

  • If i had to carry stuff for a living on my bike then no the black bag would not be any good.

But for commuting and supermarket runs it's all I need and was a nice price.
    And its black.

  • Crap.

    It's tiny, and uncomfortable.

And that MASSIVE metal buckle! Not good.

If I ain't using my XL Bagaboo Workhorse I use my Etnies Underground backpack, I really can't see any use for the Seagull.

  • I recently met some kids from Minneapolis who both had seagull bags which they said where 'awesum'. I'd say that is a pretty favorable reveiw. Also they have just brought out a new 'slim' buckle. I think I terms of bag construction they look pretty good and the materials used are the same as those being used in similar bags from other companies. I think they have a range of sizes right up to something like xxl oversized.
I researched this quite a lot before buying so I hope the one I'm getting delivered in the next few weeks should be good.

  • I don´t think a review from a kids from Minneapolis would be reputable enough, I mean we know Timbuk2 classic messenger bag is shit right? but there´s people who said they´re "awesum".

  • robin, how long has it taken to get hold of your bag, and how did you go about ordering it (you're a uk citizen right?) ?

  • When I say kids I mean fully grown people, usually i'd agree but in this instance I'd say I belive their collective reveiw. One of them had been using the bag for work and it was still like new! I'll post back up here when my bag comes through.

  • The bag of choice amongst London's messengers is Archie's obviously, but...

Aww Bill....shucks....now that's why you're my favourite hairy man!
Incidentally....once the first 'Bill' prototype is done i would really like your opinion to see if it addresses all we've spoken about before.

  • i won one in an ally cat, its my wife's now, feel free to check it out if you want

  • Got my bag. Seems to be pretty 'awesome' as previously recommended. I got medium which is bigger than I need for day to day stuff. Will post pictures if anyone is interested.

  • Post em

  • loads of black bag pics here

Yeah post some pics please - did you get stung on the duty coming into the UK?

  • They're a standard bag. MessenJah's link has loads. What was total £ cost all told?

  • I know they're pretty pricy If you move away from the black bag standard as they class anything else as custom

  • I got a custom bag for $150 which worked out at the time around £80. Got stung on customs for almost £30 though. I'll post some pictures tommorow when I'm with my computer.

  • Cheers Robin

  • the black bag is ok. the problem is looking over your left shoulder - the bag blocks the view - which might only be a problem in countries where the traffic flows on the right.

I would go with a baileyworks, myself. that is an excellent bag.

doubt it'd affect it that much, as you turn to look behind, your shoulder turn as well and thus still be able to see behind the road.

  • I ride with a black bag and it's a problem, albeit a minor problem. I dont really turn my shoulder, just my neck. And you're right - if you do turn with your shoulder, it isnt a problem, but I tend to veer when I do that and I like to keep my hands on the bars. I've considered taking the bag to a seamstress and having two or three inches taken off the corner and then sewed back together, but havent gotten around to it. I suppose it could be a fit problem, though. Maybe someone larger wouldnt have this problem.

I got stung for just under 18 quid by Parcelforce. The black bag is cheaper than robin's bag though, and the customs charge is proportional to the item's value innit

  • did you have any pic robin
