Why is this better than that?

So its the same reason I buy Supreme Tee's. I want to appear cool and to a certain extent feel like part of a 'scene.'

At an extreme perhaps so, but most people subscribe to these ideas in more subtle, more subconscious ways.

And even here, being a part of a 'scene' is underpinned by even more basic goals.
