Halfords

Hey

Halfords have a bit of a sale on at the moment. Most stuff is the end of the line items. Got a Topeak Alien RX multitool reduced from 28 quid to a fiver. Got a 11 piece set of draper wrenchs for a 5 from 15, got wire cutters for a 5 from 15, also a head set wrench for a quid. A mate got a head set, chrome, for a quid.

We reserved online and that way you get the online discount and then went in to the store and picked it up. Also some stores don't have enough room to have all the bargins out so they have a box round back, ask to see that as thats where we got some more stuff from.

Just thought some of you might want to know.

Some things come up cheaper in side the shop, as i've just check the sprocket remover we got was 5 instead of 8.99

i've been messing about with mine, as you do, seems ok. But then again i've no idea what a good one looks or feels like.

Yep, no multi-tool waiting at the store for me. Meh.

No multi-tool and no freewheel tool. Apparently there were three of each on stock but none in the store. Fucking scallys

The staff spent ages looking for my spoke key & freewheel tool.

They were discontinued items that hadnt been seen in years...

In the end they were found in the bargain bin at the front of the store.

I reserved a freewheel tool online a few months back. They didn't have it when I got there. It was discontinued (as DFP says) so they couldn't even order me one. I made them sell me their one out of the workshop!!

It's not their fault the stockfile is wrong, if they're on the cheapy offer thing, it's cos they haven't been on the profile (where things are meant to go on the shop floor) for a while, and they try to get rid of old stock that has probably been put away, then to be lost/nicked because no one will see. Most halfords' are shit yeah, but it's not their fault they can't find the things.

I work in Halfords, and i will tell you pretty much anything you need to know, likewise with 3/6 of the part timers, and the other full timer. There's also a very good dude in the gravesend store who probably knows more than anyone ever (i've been told about him, and no one can rate him highly enough) so you do get the odd decent store.

i think halfords is alright for what it is. my local place has a decent tool selection and replacement parts for older bikes. the bikes sold in there are all a bit naff though. those chris boardman bikes look to be ok but i know sod all about them.

Yeah, most of the bikes in Halfords are shit, however, walk into a standalone bikehut (halfords, bikehut by itself) and you'll jizz.

The boardmans are amazing VFM, if you stripped down the 3 grand race prepared road bike, zipp 404 wheelset, full sram red, full carbon frame and fork, you have about 5 grands worth of kit. They now do a langster alternative which is much better (isn't a specialized) and is about the same dollar.

This is perhaps the best spanner set you will ever use...
£90 reduced to £40.. go and buy them now.
