  • Depends what kind of ink you want - it's just like a bike shop, some specialise in single-speed, some on mountain bikes, some on road racers. It's a bad call to go to an artist known for oldschool colour work if you want a black and white portrait.

What kind of stuff are you after?

Edit - sorry, that's my standard reply to anyone who asks me about my tattoos, just read your post. :D

Do you want it to look thick and colourful? Seems to me that that sort of thing would look good in an oldschool kind of thick needle sort of dealy.

I'd back up White Flower for Into You (I'm getting my chestpiece done there by Duncan X, great artist tho' wouldn't work with your design) - one of the most consistently respected and well-rounded shops in the country.

I'd also say that JJ at Blood Brothers in Holloway would do a good job of that kind of design, since he has a good grasp of subtle colouration. Valerie Vargas at Frith St is doing some incredible work right now too, I think she'd do a good interpretation. Will add more as I think of them.

Don't WHATEVER you do design it yourself tho'. Basis of all bad tattoos, that. If you're getting custom work, let the artist do custom work.
