What tool are you using? If it's a more modern pedal and you're using the 8mm Allen/Hex key on the axle, it might be best to try and source a pedal wrench instead. Makes life much easier.
RH = Anti-Clockwise to remove, correct.

No room for hex, using pedal wrench, not a park tool but not an uber cheap one either, fucked it, and pretty much fucked the angles on the pedal, not sure what I'm gonna do now, off to the pub, gonna have to buy a vice and easy-out tomorrow, might be cheaper to buy a new pair of cranks.
cheers!
(Grrrr fucking angry with myself and it's raining too, fucking hate the rain.)

Clamp the pedal in a vice or workmate or other immovable holding device and turn the crank around the pedal, with something to extend leverage if necessary (large tube or similar).

i remember using a vice to remove a bottom bracket, wouldn't move. Broke the vice though, the metal plates, snapped in half. hahahaha, got a right telling off by the Uni.

OK, I'm prepared to throw some cash at this problem, (LBS shut on a Sunday though! Grrr) any suggestions for replacing the stock cranks, and chainring from my charge plug?

muth fucka, deffo screwing it the right way, (right hand pedal, trying to screw it anti-clockwise). I've now taken it off the crank and heated it up in the fire, now the fucking aluminium pedal is melting, still won't come off! GRRRRRRRR
any tips?
Right pedal is anti-clockwise to unscrew, left is clockwise.

Took the offending article to the lbs, fella put it in a vice and had the pedal off the crank in a jiffy.
Worktop and vice, on my xmas wish list.
