  • So basically, I'm cycling along, there's a crossroads ahead of me (for those that know south london, the crossroads just before the imperial war museum), and traffic queueing at the lights. There's a police station just before the lights, with a little side road. It was the typical crash scenario - stationary traffic - driver waves on a car turning right through the stationary traffic, right into the path of me, filtering in between 2 lanes. The only option for myself, a brakeless cyclist of death, is to turn sharply while skidding, bringing myself onto the same or similar vector as the driver, while s/he slows down. The crazy cool rim-scraping skid happened at this point - the driver came to a stop in the entrance to the junction (which actually also had about 4 people crossing it at the same time, the driver was a dopey shortsighted prick), i negotiated the various obstacles, hopped onto the pavement, then resumed my position waiting for the lights to change, and drafting some cool old guy on a roadie all the way through kennington before getting bored/tired at the bottom of brixton road.

    :)
