  • I love films and am always looking for good ones I have yet to see. Im not really picky I like both arthouse and blockbuster films. But I need some recommendations. So I thought this would be a good opportunity for a list. Choose 2 movies that you consider your favorites (or close) I say 2 because I cannot compare Ghostbusters to the The Hill. So one serious film and one just simply great entertainment.

    1. The Hill
    2. Ghostbusters
  • The public information film about chip pans catching fire they used to show at 3.45 on a Saturday afternoon.

  • is that The Hill with a young Sean Connery?

  • i can wholeheartedly recommend dirtpipe milkshakes. and it's sequels.

  • Serious one: Matir Moina (the clay bird)

Entertainment any of the following: Karate kid, Lost Ark, Back to the future, ET, Goonies, gremlins etc etc, really a great era of fun exciting films. Cannot decide.

  • if i'm having a fat day:
    1.dirty dancing
    2.ghost

    1. when harry met sally

    otherwise
    1.brighton rock
    2.play it again sam.
    3.Aguirre the wrath of god.

  • Dumbo

  • Event Horizon

  • Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas!!!!
or maybe Cool Hand Luke.......you got me thinking now.

  • pulp fiction

  • Animal House
The Breakfast Club (or St Elmo's Fire)
    Point Break

That would be a great night in.

  • The beyond (Fulci).
    Solaris (Tarkovski).
    Stalker ( Same).
    Angst (Kragl).
    the addiction (Ferrara).
Twitch of the death nerve (Bava).
    Inferno (Argento).
    Damnation (Tarr).
    Texas chainsaw massacre (Hooper).
    Rosemary's baby (Polanski).
    Pi ( Aronofsky).

Old French comedies ( De Funès especially).
Anyway, far too many to mention ... but I guess some in the above list worth a watch.

  • Hey Ombre, what about Hombre?

  • Serious: Y Tu Mama Tambien; The Edukators; Matrix
Fun: The Princess Bride; V for Vendetta; A Fish Called Wanda

  • The Sting.

  • Fight Club
    Oldboy

  • Brick
    Star Wars
    Romeo & Juliet
    Withnail & I

  • hold-up, Carlito's Way is definately in the top 3

    1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

      "It's only a model"

gimme a sec on the second one.

  • Hey Ombre, what about Hombre?

  • Haven't seen it for ages ... sure my old memory needs to be refreshed ; anyway, thanks to mention it ;)

Likewise - about time I saw it again - it's corny, but an underrated classic

YouTube - Sword of Doom - Mifune sword fight

  • Poncey Obtuse References: Fucking Amal, Dead Man's Shoes, This Is England, War Photographer, Last Night, Infernal Affairs (original), The Barbarian Invasions.
