Jay Adams ^^^ was at a contest. It was a lame contest, but historically significant. Some people have more drive to compete / be the best. Others do it for the feel / scene.
Compare Chris Miller & Tony Hawk. Both rad but Miller wanted to put the most stylish run together, Birdman wanted to win.
