I would be up for this but only if I could be in a training montage (with music) to get myself ready for the final event where I win (just) by beating the bad guy (Hillbilly ;) then crying, snogging the female lead and then being carried on everyones sholders into the night.

Hey, this is a great idea, a good way to play with people's strength and to have a few god days out.
The good news is this wouldn't take that much organizing.
One track day, one long distance ride, one alley cat, one rollapoluza event and one trix event.
If everything was themed as to the classic days of cycling, this could be a fantastic and old-timey thing to keep doing through out 2009.
I'd be up for helping to organize this.

This brings me to my modest proposal: that the LFGSS might have a Best All Rounder competition.
Too predictable. Hippy would win this every time. He posts in every kind of thread.

I would be interested in this if we could take some of the emphasis off of the drinking and actually do different disiplines. TT is a great idea and they're already organised as our clubman suggested.
HH also already has a number of events that we could utilise.
Of course I would suggest some of our regular more festive activities Roller Race and tricks but if we did a course of 10 comps in the season that would give a lot of people the chance to engage..and try bike stuff we don't normally.
Great idea clubman! -

The picture reminds me of Hitler youth movement for some reason.

@atomic.a, I thought the same thing, that the guy closest to the camera (back turned), with his gloves, glasses, and neat near-miltary haircut, did have a certain whiff or of Gestapo about his blouson and plus-fours.
oh, more older stuff: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread7447.html

One of Austria's last local gods. Christian Frisch in front of a classic, misty-eyed panoramic view of the alps. Austria-tour 1964, precursor of the Tour d'Alpes.
Cycle ball training 1967 in Graz.
And impressions of the early haydays of cyclocross as a winter training on the Schöckel Mountain, which nowadays widely travelled hardcore downhillfans may know. -

Not just cycle ball - RAD BALL!

you'd have to be obsessed with Nazism and ignorant to how Britain looked in the forties to jump to that odd conclusion.

Rollapaluza are running a best all rounder competition in our winter league, based on times and points......we'd be keen to put on a couple of specific events for this.......we've already done an LFGSS event for xmas last year.

Why do some people need to make eveything so competitive?
Do you realise have you play polo?
[smile face here]
I've been training for this one since before any of you were born.
