I am naturally biasaed against Evans and CycleSurgery. I have to say, however, that I had a very good experience at CycleSurgery in Holloway Road last Saturday. The manager there is a very decent fellow.

The only rope you get Gary is a noose (or a ball gag).

Condor have generally been really good to me and can't really say a bad word about them. You're not going to get perfect customer service during a work week lunchtime or on a Saturday but if you go there during quieter times you are much more likely to get the service you'd like.
You can hardly call them a faceless multinational and there would be a big hole in London if Condor closed (their stock of parts big and small has been a life saver more than a few times) and I'm hoping that a larger store will see a bit of a reduction in the scrum during their busier periods.

Condor is, like their bikes, are all about posing and not much about cycling.
you're just jealous as it's difficult to pose with a Glider.

Wait, you can get gags for your balls now?
This country...

When you have a Glider, you don't need to pose. It feels so good that you really don't have to worry how you look - which is why it suits this fat bastard.

Sorry. Utter shite.
During peak trade is exactly when one should expect to get good service. Any decent retailer will staff up to the levels of expected trade. Back of house, training (?), admin, etc should be done off-peak and nothing other than selling during lunchtimes and saturdays.
To blame crap service on being busy is just crap retailing.
Retail is detail, people! ;-)

I just went there. I can't see anything on sale that isn't usually on sale tbh
Why do bike shops never have sales on practical stuff like inner tubes and spokey dokes? HMM?
Condors once did a huge winter sale in which I bought enough tubes, tyres, energy drink mix etc to last me a good few years. That's not the case today though. The only thing on sale today was ladie's windstopper in tiny-small or extra-large. And some purple Deep-vs laced to own-brand black hubs, now only £209 the set.
Still, I haven't had the service problems others talk about and they do have a good range of pretty much anything, as othes have said.

Condor staff have always been helpful to me,
some are more in-the-know than others, but that's ok. -

secondly, we're simply human after all, obviously during peak hours tend to be the hardest.
if you want to be sure to get customer service, simply be polite to them, I bet you during peak hours quite a handful of customer are rude bugger.

Apart srom silly sale stuff like caps and gloves, I've only ordered things not in stock, They've been very helpful, told me when they are placing the order, as sometimes they wait until there's a lot from the same supplier, and 'phone me promptly when stock arrives. Good free catalogues too.

Get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.

Would be nice if Condors success could be found elsewhere in the bike industry.

Just look at Clive's avatar--the Glider poses all by itself. ;)

I think under the big words "closing down" it says something like "nah, that made you look, not likely, ha ha ha."
It's just a con on the door.

Condor are great, you get the odd moody person once a week or two but other than that, always happy to help you out and we're friends with them down at the bikehut, they always do us favours. Prices are a tiny bit crept up though.

i agree and i dunno why condor gets slagged so much, sure there are often a few ignorant guys who work there, and the quality of the servicing is a bit hit and miss at times.. but give some credit - they've been supporting cycling and london cyclists for 60 odd years, always helpful and have supported young aspiring riders in a big way.. good guys if you ask me...
The perception of bike shops is amusing. I've always found Condor to be helpful and have never had any problems with service. Mosquito on the other hand, seems to be staffed by people who must've been born looking down their nose at the midwife.
That said, I'd rather the likes of Condor, Mosquito and CycleFit continued in business so as to stave off the hegemony that Evans offers.
