Lost for words

Food shortages are caused by entirely political / socio-economic factors, and very rarely by a lack of food (in the sense of there not being enough production).

Blaming food shortages to political / socio-economic factors does not make things better, people are dying because of starvation all over the world.

How can we produce enough if the population continues to grow and arable and farmable land continues to shrink?
