  • was it a minivan or "people carrier"..?

I'd only dropped back to chat to someone - it was shocking to see a bike and rider somersault up into the air but then the car fucking speed off... really shocking in the true sense of the word. The indian waiters and passers by, along with the guys, just broke into uproar when he floored it. What a shit.

Chris - I seem to remember Tom (Santa) saying later that he did get a look at the reg but had forgotten it.. maybe he might be able to remember some of it now? Hopefully it's on CCTV though. glad you're okay Carlos and Jordan.

  • philjamas if you saw it, can you write down what you saw and email it to me? in case the police ever do anything about it.

  • luckily the cop "assisting us" today at the station said that cctv is kept for months, just for this reason, and if anyone next passes through that intersection, youll notice theres about 15 different cameras all pointing in a variety of directions. helps theres a pub there - pub = drunks = high fight zone = lots of cameras.

sadly, everything that wasnt hurting saterday night is now soar as a mother, and tight as one two - feels like the right half of my body is clenched up - ie, what your supposed to do right before an accident, not two days on.

  • :( heal up fast mother fucker.

    x

  • Is it an S-Max, a Galaxy? Neither?

(with reference to Chris C's "Ford Mini-van")

it was dark, not sure. sorry.

  • Shit man, I can't believe the Police didn't stick around? Yes, it was fortunate that you didn't need to go to hospital, but what about Dangerous driving, Leaving the scene of an accident, criminal damage?

Hope you are feeling better soon dude. Do you have some spare forks? I have a 1" threaded pair if you need.

  • frames officially fucked.

just stripped it, and found the pressure damage most visible at the bast of the down tube adjacent to the bb cluster, as wrinkle on one side, and stretchy action on the other. if i was to put a new fork in there, to ride straight, i would have to go at an angle, like how some dogs run. less visible is the tweaked alignment from front to back; if you look down the top tube towards the rear triangle, all you see is the non-crank-side seat and chain stay. luckily i have another frame set here, and im in the process of switching over bits, but the total loss (noticed so far, anyways) is front wheel, fork, frame and seat. damn. all this one day after "heroically" saving some one elses frame.

  • dark times Mr Sway - got a spare carbon fork and some handlebars if ya need to rebuild

  • the details of the van: A Midnight Blue Ford Minivan plate number: JVB 08.....

Youve noticed thats not a standard UK number, right? That might not make it easy for yer average copper to find (trust me, I have many stories of how bad they are at tracking down vehicles even when provided with a full license plate..)

Hopefully the CCTV might produce something?

  • so you guys have lots of independent witnesses from outside the restaurants?
i hope the driver gets busted for this.

  • shit guys this is fucked up. hope no long term injuries.

    good effort chris and hillbilly.

  • damn. all this one day after "heroically" saving some one elses frame.

The vehicle reg. plates varied over time in layout and meanings, so different layouts mean different eras.

so at the moment its (X for a letter, 9 for a number)
    xx99 xxx

    before that it was
    x999 xxx

    before that:
    xxx 999x

which suggests this reg plate was pretty old, as it fits that last pattern. I recall when T was the last letter, (denoting the year) it was way back in 1979/1980.

Yeah but you can put any plate on a vehicle provided its not newer than the vehicle. So you can't put '86 plates on a vehicle made in '82 but you can put '82 plates on a vehicle made in '86 and so on.

Exactly. Which was my point. If its a UK plate starting with 3 letters, its more than 20 years old, which is probably not the correct era for the much newer ford minivan that I saw slam into carlito..

  • and the numbers would not start with 0. That only came in with the current plates

  • this happened to me 2x so far. good luck with it.
