  • Has anyone seen this, really interesting series.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00g1vdq/Louis_Theroux_Law_and_Disorder_in_Johannesburg/

Much of it is very shocking.

  • Watched it last night, fucked up..

  • Saw both of them and yes, fucked up indeed!

For once it's nice to see a documentary about crime not simply blaming criminals but asking what causes people to turn to it..

  • in the US one you know that those special unit boys were up to all sorts of naughty shit when the cameras werent there - like something out of The Shield

  • Reno 911 is the best and most accurate account of American policing.

  • The chickens seem to be coming home to roost for the Greek police - and ultimately the government...

  • Louis Thewhatsisface is all over the TV at the mo'.. he was doing a doco on muscle fetish last night (no RPM, I wasn't dreaming about your quads).

  • I was most horrified by the "William" character in the second episode.

And that vigilantes were burning people.

Much of the civilians complaints are the same that you hear here.

However the guy that was community policing in the second episode, he seemed to be pretty much on his own, but he was doing everything the right way. Very brave man indeed considering the consequences.

    for a change.

  • but yeah, Theroux.

I'm tired of his incredulous, innocent act, because he then whacks you with his opinion anyway. It's not impartial.

I still like the program though, and I can tell you from experience, Jo'Burg is a fucking scary place

  • i quite like his style. it allows the interviewee to express their views quite openly. i agree it's not 100% impartial but nothing is, and it could be a lot worse

  • he made the Savile look a bit dodgy though didn't he!

  • yeah, but he is kinda dodgy :)

  • saw the one in philly, really interesting series, better than ross kemp on gangs

  • I'll say nothing.

(for fear of being tied up in the boiler room)

  • better than ross kemp on gangs

I've had bowel movements that are better than Ross Kemp On Gangs.

and burps with more intellectual gravitas than the whole of Eastenders

thats not saying much though is it

  • Did anyone see his docu with the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church"]Westboro Baptist Church[/ame]? If you also saw Keith Allen's attempt you'll notice Louis gives them a lot of time to express their views, comparred to Keith's attempt, which (I think) resulted in him repeatedly swearing at them I believe...

I probably would have done the same though to be fair...

  • just finished watching it... that melevant guy was hella funny! babies in microwaves pahahahaha
    pretty gnarly stuff though..

I was horrified by the more talkative one out of the pair of hijackers louis fixer took him to meet.

"Ill put your first born in the oven and turn it on, Ill make you pay" etc. horrifying, you can see why people need to 'burn' criminals so often.

  • he was doing a doco on muscle fetish last night.

    Was that CHUG_IT TV?

  • The first episode was essentially season one of the Wire.

  • "we want to burn him"

fucken scary stuff. amazing that louis is so cool in that climate.

Made me shiver when he gave a big smile after he described one of the criminals being 'well cooked' after a beating.

  • i think he's better when he's doing the more comic exposee's jimmy saville / the hamiltons / body building / religious nuts and motivational speakers i think his playing of the dopey english blokes suits that better
when he's playing the dopey brit and asking people about a person who just got beaten up or burnt and stoned to death i think his style looses it's fun and makes him look a bit stupid
his earlier series were well funny not too sure about these last two programmes
