@cliveo--there is a huge level of under-reporting of motor vehicle-cyclist incidents, so the impression of more collisions may only arise because in this community people stick together and rely on reporting things on the forum. Good one, everybody. Very glad both Jordan and Carlos are OK.

Could this driver have been a criminal even before they hit Carlos and Jordan? That whole behaviour--being evidently a fast getaway driver, clearly knowing the area, switching lights off--just sounds well suspicious. For this reason, in a way I'm glad Chris and Jim didn't catch up with them, even the license plate number may not have been that useful if it was a stolen car. They may have had more at stake than just proceedings over a traffic violation had they been caught. Am I being paranoid? This definitely doesn't seem like normal behaviour even for a reckless driver.

Of course, it would be nice to get the police to take the incident seriously. One of the most important things that need to be done in London is to re-establish the strength of traffic police, currently down to under 700 officers London-wide. On the rare occasions that officers are delegated to enforce motor traffic, they have been amazingly successful in recovering stolen goods, weapons, and drugs, and in nicking criminals. A lot of crime is massively assisted by the anonymity that motoring conveys. It is a known fact that a lot of criminals drive recklessly, too. There is hardly any enforcement.

I'd say, the driver was either uninsured, unlicensed, an illegal citizen, someone on bail,
or carrying contraband........or all of the above.
