I'm sure you've already tried it but you could uninstall the last firmware update.
other then that I would just throw a mountain bike at its head.
thanks good bye. -

Whats this about illegitimate software? I've heard it from other people as well, do the apple store not fix computers with pirated gear on them?

Do the Apple Store fix anyone's computer??
I lashed out £50 on 3 year warranty, expecting Apple to be pretty good about warranties.
I had this problem when it was 6 months old: http://www.jeremyemberling.com/blog/macbook-cracked/
Apple said they wouldn't do anything about it because it's wear and tear. Mine's cracking around the hinge now too. Plastic shit.

thanks good bye.I hadn't actually given that a go. As the keyboard stopped working in between firmware updates (I also hadn't installed/updated anything else) I thought it was probably a hardware issue rather than a software thang. Since posting on here I've read that it could be something to do with the battery swelling and it affecting/bending the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the logic board. Looks like a trip to Apple! Balls.

I'll give it a go. Can't do any harm I guess! Cheers, MissaSmiff.

I don't actually know - does anyone else? My OS is legit so I don't see why they wouldn't fix my MBP if it's within its warranty period. But then companies like Apple do have a tendency of finding excuses to get out of providing the service they're supposed to. Besides, the not-so-legit software shouldn't affect hardware like that anyhoo.

let me guess - it's one month out of warranty? macbooks seem to have a maximum life of 13 months...
The keyboard and touchpad on my Macbook Pro has suddenly stopped working. I had difficulties with it a few months ago but a firmware update sorted it out. I downloaded and installed the latest one but it still ain't working. Anyone got any ideas? I've read online that I might have to take it to my nearest Apple store as it could be a hardware defect. I'd rather not do that though as not all of the software on it is legit and some of it was a bitch to get on.
I appreciate that this ain't no computer forum but there are some clever-computer-type-people here so thought I'd give it a go before resorting to the above.
Cheers!
