Don't always listen to music while riding...but i do rather enjoy something pretty tech like Ion Dissonance, Meshuggah or Dillinger. Although this tends to make me ride, shall we say, outside of my limits somewhat!
Something a bit more chilled is also cool, but listening to Low t'other morning made my journey to work at least 3 mins longer. Cruising. -

Ride bikes and listen to Slayer!!

Ah yes, Slayer is perfect also.
Just the other night i was wishing i hadn't left my ipod at home, so instead decided it was a fantastic idea to pretty much shout out the riff for reign in blood.Da Dah Da Dah Da Da Dah Da Da Dah Da Da Dah....and so on

I think a bit of nofx or mxpx, would work well if you're running a little behind!!
I guess if you do ride in heavy traffic, but know you're route and it's hazards, traffic wise, you could always pull out an ear bud or both at those areas, just to be sure?
Pete Rock and Cl Smooth help me keep it slick and relaxed!!
(not saying traffic hazards aren't bloody everywhere, but certain junctions or roundabouts in my town are definately 'ears open' areas!!)

but that may be to do with me wearing glasses.
I definitely have to look around for longer when I'm wearing my glasses. My frames obscure important points so I always triple check compared to double checking when I'm not wearing them.
The worst is when I'm head down up a hill and when I glance up my glasses get in the way, I have to look over them which is fucking annoying.
The accelerometer song selector for the iPod touch is pretty cool,
chooses a song depending on how fast your moving.Name of said app please? I need that in my life.

Listening to slayer will DEFINATELY make you invincible on the road. Fact.

Absolutely never. I rely on my ears almost as much as my eyes. More so, it feels sometimes when its dark and wet and I can barely see whats ahead of me. Should wear glasses really but I am way too cool for that
-

But the thing with seeing instead of listening, your eyes never lie, (expect when it come to cleverly hidden pothole on rainy dark evening might be different), your ears might, at least mine does a lots more than hearing people, what if a cyclist coming up behind you? you don´t often hear them since they tend to be quiet especially fixed wheel bicycles in a windy day, what if you can´t hear an electric car coming up on your right, left or behind you? etc.
I see that relying on your ears might be more problematic than looking out more often.
100% agree - your eyes will keep you safest - keep 'em peeled !

What?!? Come on, you know that doesn't come into effect if playing online.
I do but not when i've got bored of all the music that i've currently got on mp3s.
I often quite like the sound of my tyre noise.
