• Hi guys,

I am in the process of converting one of my bikes back to a "classic / normal" racing bike, as I am now using my other frame as a fixed gear bike.

It is an old frame, which maybe had 27X1/4 wheels at the time (not sure)
So as a fixed, I only had a front brake, but now I need/want to add one at the back as well. At the front I have a standard (but nice) shimano double pivot brake with a 57mm drop, that fits OK, when the pads are sets at their lower position. But I was suprised to discover that at the back the shimano 57mm drop is too short!! I measured, and the distance from the axis of the brake bridge on the frame to the middle of the rim edge is 60mm.
57mm is apparently the best I can fine with shimano...
My problem is that the only alternative I found to the shimano brake is an
    "ugly" Acor model...
    http://www.simpsoncycles.co.uk/product.php?xProd=1350
I considered using that anyway as it is not that bad, and it is a dual pivot, but the threaded fixing axis is not threaded long enough to allow me to use a sunk bolt, and I am unsure that this could be removed and replace by a shorther one with more thread...

Any idea of a product that could fit my extremely demanding specifications?
    -60mm (approx) reach
    -dual pivot
-"classy" finish (comparable to a shimano one)
-enough thread so I can cut the fixing axis short and use a sunk bolt

    Many thanks!!

    Loic
