There's been 42 people view this thread since I posted and no one has had any advice yet. A free Pukka Pie** to the first poster is up for grabs.

check ebay, i've managed to find a handful of decent 1" threaded forks on there, also check your LBS. mine has about 10 second hand forks laying about. i'd say most LBS would be happy to cut or thread yhe steerer.

Thanks guys. This may well be a silly question, but I'm silly so I'll ask it: aside from the thread, is there any major difference between threaded and threadless forks? I mean, if I have to cut and re-thread a set of forks anyway to fit my frame, does it matter if I buy a 1" threaded or threadless fork?

It depends on your headset. Capiche?

some threadless forks cannot be threaded, as the wall is not thick enough. threadless forks, headsets and stems are better.

agree with chris crash
So I'm in the middle of renovating my old Peugeot frame and up until late last night, right up until I had a booze fueled common sense failure, chipped the still drying paint, lost my temper and smashed the feckers, I also had a matching fork to go with the frame.
So what are my options? I can't find many 1" threaded straight forks around so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Also, how do you go about chopping and threading the fork column if it's too long? Is this something my LBS will likely do for me?
