ah, Inverness Street.. cool. I always found intoxica a little bit steep price wise to be honest - can't deny the tunes are good though...

Alan's records in North Finchley had a bunch of doo wop in last time i was there. Sounds of the Universe (Soul Jazz records) in Soho might be worth a look as well.

Nick's prices are shocking... I can't go in there anymore, always come out £200 lighter...

i actually used to like the way he had a barney at some customers out of nowhere, but probably only cos I seemed to escape it. Get the feeling the tune I'm after would be on 7inch or 78 for a ton.

anyone know where I could stand a really good chance of picking up an old tune i like centralish ? 50s/60s Doo Wap, rock'n'roll - not bothered about it being original copy , just on vinyl (ie could even be a later compilation).
cheers
That's Doo ***Wop ***dude!

originally Doo Wap, spelling then modified in '58 to acknowledge its Italian-immigrant roots. therefore racist.

Little Richard and Bo Diddley for sure to start... I'd add Link Wray to that... Check out Norton and Ace Records, loads of great reissue stuff on those labels...

loads of good things came out of Ace Records in the 50's and 60's - but if your after a general cross section get a hold of some classics such as Carl Perkins, Charlie Feathers and Gene Vincent - listen to the Mark Lamarr show thursdays at 10pm on radio 2 - lots of good more obscure acts.
by the way, i play all that old music as well - i was actually going to start a little night at the duke of wellington in dalston - could maybe do with more people to play.

Ta for all the great suggestions - I think I may even have a Carl Perkins LP somewhere. I need to catalogue my vinyl at some point !
