Could these be used with cork/carbon specific brake pads, or would that be a shockingly bad idea?
I would not want to ruin the looks by grinding through the paint, but equally I would not want to lose all my teeth in a face/back of van interface....

You can use them with normal brake pads for alloy rims (would suggest getting Swiss Stop ones, they're wicked!), but yes the braking surface will be marked... :(

I'd prefer not to ruin their good looks, which is why I was wondering whether "exotic" compound brake pads would be a possibility- fairly sure that Dale has talked about this before?
To be fair I should probably get a frame sorted first of all, I seem to be buying components with no frame to put them on!
Roberto- what do you have in 58cm that might suit?

nice, but why are you trying to sell it on Roberto's thread?
there's a whole classifieds section just for you

Having recovered two stolen bikes in a week, can we cut the man some slack on the thread hi-jack?
-
• #16
To be fair the thread hijack is probably my fault- I asked if Roberto had a 58cm frame in stock, Broken_777 answered.
If the frame is any good I'll need some wheels to go with it- which makes it relevant-ish!

1.apologies for my rather steep and sharp angled hijack
2.he was asking for frame i offered, i dont really want to sell it so much as to start new thread
3.at least im not jumping on someones for sale thread throwing around bullshit like "ohh you can get this from there and there for way less" or "oh you can buy all the components form site X and handbuilt it yourself" like some well-respected members do
4.thanks for your rather slack and relaxed and playful input. -

You got some pictures of the frame- which if I buy it will now have to be called "Hijack"?
-
• #19
ill try to post some this eve or tommorow
-
• #20
Cool.
Is this the frame with the cutout in the seat tube for the rear wheel? And what colour is it (obviously the most important question!)?
-
• #21
that is indeed the one with cutout.....and its white....and it is an ex display bike so never ridden....there is one little chip/ripple in paint which is touched up.......
-
• #22
These wheels in clinchers are hard to find, someone should really snap these wheels up at this price!
-
• #23
I will do if I buy the frame!
-
• #24
Come on Broken_777- where are these pictures?
I'll spend the money for the frame on mince pies and Christmas decorations at this rate!
