Yes, tonight was a lovely, friendly atmosphere, small turnout, no police. I didn't see a single confrontation, just smiles when corking. CM sometimes works in this way.
September was huge and the first time the police had been absent for a very long time. That confused people but now, three rides in, they've learned how to self-regulate the Mass again and it works well.
@Chris Crash: Stopping for pedestrians is a good old CM tradition. It actually doesn't cause very long delays at all, the only problem is when pedestrians don't dare cross and there's a politeness stand-off. I have more of a problem with long stops at something like Downing Street, which CM did a lot for a while--really boring.
Oh, and besides being a general hero, Des was riding around in shorts and sandals ... brrr ...
