  • My mum bought me a thermos flask a month or so ago. Although the tea is not as good as dicki's above there is something really nice about going for a ride / walk, taking a break and bring out the thermos for some tea action in the middle of nowhere.

  • @Photoben....when are you EVER coming over here for Tea? i still have your lock holster!

  • Up at my trails in north london we have set up a bench, tarporlin cover and a camping stove. Digging for hours and then stopping for a cup of tea is awsome. Dirty mugs, really strong tea and mud everywhere. Good times.

I take a Thermos of soup to the football on really cold days. It's great.

  • To be fair though mouse it never gets THAT cold in the vip box...:)

  • So cold my prawn sandwich froze!

  • I'm sure your butler would have gently breathed on it till it thawed out for you....:)

  • er. is this still going on? chug it closed this with yorkshire. way back when.

    yorkshire gold. tea done right.

    Yorkshire Tea = rank.

    Thread = re-opened.

  • heathens
get yourselves a proper old fashioned china tea pot and smash it repeatedly into your skull.

    Fixed.

    Fucking tea drinkers. Pfft.

  • Yorkshire Gold? Nah mate, Twinning's Everyday.

    Scot - tomorrow?

  • no can do tomorrow ben i'm in scotland then...back on sat night...next week?

  • How have I not noticed this thread before? I LOVE TEA!

I'm having a tea party with my fella when he gets in, I've made scones and we have nice biccies and fondant fancies and a selection of lapsang, darjeeling, earl grey and kenya tea
I also picked up one of these babies after finding it in sainsburies

Re the tea pot above /\, these are great but I would suggest one thing: Get one that has a proper spout coming from near the bottom not a lip from the top. This stops any of the floaty bits going into your tea. Almost all teas (especially if using bags straight into cups) leave a film layer on the top. Which is not the nicest bit, so the spout from lower down stops this. I still drink with bag straight from the cup if I'm being lazy, but when you're doing the nice stuff it's best to do it right;-)

Here's the one I have and I got it from TKMaxx for about £10 \/. It may just have been a lucky find, but I would imagine similar will still be available a some places.

It's the same as this one \/ but with a china outer rather than glass.

@MessenJah: BE A MAN. Either drink more tea, invites some friends to drink with you or pour the rest away. You don't need to use any more tea leaves to add a couple of small cups, so just add a little more water. I don't know what size cups you use, but a litre wouldn't fill more than 3 of mine. You obviously need bigger cups!

get yourselves a proper old fashioned china tea pot, warm with a bit of boiling water, add PG Tips pyramid bags ( one per peson and one for the pot ) add boiling water let stew for 5 mins pour into cup add lashing of creamy milk, a spoonful of sugar
hey presto best thirst quencher out there on the market today
    screw isotonic lucozade

    Hold on...

You're calling other people heathens, but you're suggesting that people use PG tips bags, and add sugar, and lashings of milk? WTF?

Pouring the rest away is wasteful not only of tea and energy but electricity too, and I only like 2 cups of tea at a time.

Hennyway I've taken it back and I'm getting a normal teapot soon. Mesh ball for the tea.

  • I use one of these:

I tend to have something nice and delicate like Assam in it - although with this infuser the small leaf can escape. Something larger like Orange Pekoe works well, and you get that satisfying ball of tea when you empty it out.

  • Yorkshire, strong with just a dash of milk. Northern tea !

  • Sorry MessenJah. I realise we all like different things. I can understand what you mean. I went into Woolies today and they have 1-2cup cafetieres in there for cheap. Might be good for the loose tea leaves.
I'm currently sitting down to a lovely Blueberry Muffin Rooibos from my tea pot and in a beautifully hand crafted, wood kilm fired (for 4 days and nights) handle-less cup. It's small so I'll have 2-3 cups of tea from it. Yum.

It's ok man, don't apologise for your personal preference :-D

I have a 2 cup caffa that I use for tea but the mesh ball in the mug is easier.

  • Thermos + some amount of tea bags + water + baileys.

    Job done.

    Gotta love a Hot Toddy!

    Baileys?? Seriously?

  • @M'Jah

I've had a few of those tea pots and I like you find them to be rubbish for making a proper cup of tea. I think they do work ok for green tea though, if you want to make a pot for guests to be able to keep topping up, because I find leaving the leaves loose and brewing for too long it get unpleasantly bitter.

  • Ask Dante, he had a hard time not drinking all of mine at Wests last night =P

Baileys + tea/coffee/hot chocolate = unbeatable winter warmer

I'm not sure about Baileys. I was put on when I was about 16 but drinking copius amounts of it, along with tequila and vodka. This caused curdling in te stomache, thus I threw up, A LOT!
But it does make sense seeing as it's pretty much alcoholic cream and what do we put in tea/coffee?
That's right kids, milk or cream.
Maybe I'll try it some day and come to like it.

Was this at a pub that you were drinking it?

Oh no of course not... that would be wrong after all...
