• My question is, is it worth reporting this in the hope there's cameras there, or even that the police will be bothered with it, or is this just something that should be put down to experience and leant from ? There were no witnesses so I'm guessing it would be a waste of time...

There's also a very good thread 'What to do in case of an accident' in the Private Forum, which you won't be able to get into yet until you've posted five posts and after 48 hours. The above page will tide you over until then.

If there is footage, which is quite likely in that area, I think, there may be a hit-and-run case.

There are too many cases in which drivers take advantage of people under shock and callously avoid taking responsibility.

On a street like Wood Lane without much ped traffic witnesses are unlikely, sadly!

It might be worth getting legal advice, e.g. on how to get camera footage (usually only the police can request it, so you have to get them to take it seriously in the first place). There are a lot of excellent lawyers out there who can really help you.

It may not be worth your while in this case (hope it'll turn out that she's OK physically! although the emotional scars may remain), but worth knowing for any future incidents (hopefully not) and tell all your friends. I'll declare an interest as an LCC member--just to point out that the LCC has a free legal helpline for members.

All the best and I hope it doesn't put her off her cycling!
