Sorry to jump in on this thread but I've just joined and can't post a new one.
Reason I'm posting is that tonight my GF was knocked off her bike and after a quick bit of searching this looks like the best forum to get some advice.
She was riding north up Wood Lane in the cycle lane, stationary traffic on her right when a passenger door was opened right in front of her - she had no time to brake or avoid it, hit the door and came off. The car did stop further on (initially the guy started telling her she was going too fast but after a while admitted liability) but then drove off. Really unfortunately she didn't get any details, she was a bit shaken up and dazed - she doesn't seem to be seriously hurt but she's quite bruised & sore so it could be a trip to A&E in the morning.
My question is, is it worth reporting this in the hope there's cameras there, or even that the police will be bothered with it, or is this just something that should be put down to experience and leant from ? There were no witnesses so I'm guessing it would be a waste of time...
Any advice much appreciated.
