I ride a trials bike too, and I have my rear tyre at around 14psi and front around 18psi. They're really, really grippy! but it's a completely different ball game with road tyres. You want the tyre to be hard enough not to squirm, but not so hard you lose the amount of rubber in contact with the road (alreay ben said, I think).
