I was exactly the same! I have been riding fixed for about 5-6days now and couldn't get my back wheel to lock up at all, then I was given some simple but solid advice and I was off and away in the land of skid!
Thanks to the Australian guy that was helping me with barspins, I can now wheelie barspin :-D (sorry, I forgot your name already :-S)
