Does a unicycle count as a fixed gear? I was just wondering because there is definitely no free wheeling there.

That's an awesome present. I want an adult sized big wheel myself.

I saw one on ebay for £30 a few days ago... anyway does learning to unicycle give you the ability to ride fixed on just back wheel?
I've been thinking about learning for a while, yesterday I killed my front wheel and it would have saved me a £13 taxi ride home!

What make is it? How much would you be looking for? I ride trials bikes and I've always fancied trying a trials unicycle look like a laugh.
Riding a normal unicycle is easy, you just lean the direction you want to go, becomes really natural after about half an hour of being on it. i recomend starting on grass, not a hard surface. falling off is inevitable while you're getting used to it! -

the best kind of 'unicycle' is where the front end of a bmx is put together, front wheel fork stem pegs and handlebars then it's used for hang-5 practice, awesome fun

Sam, sent you a PM.
Fred, if it wasn't for my current injury I'd be doing this as soon as I got home tonight. -

i think it's technically a fixed wheel rather than a fixed gear

I see a guy every now and then getting gnarley and dodging traffic early morning on the way to work. Mighty impressive. Then again, it's a unicycle. For my mind that's a bunch of wasted hrs getting that fast and confident vs a bicycle. Ah well. More power to him. There's a guy in the Guinness book who's in there for typing to a million. In words. Took him seventeen years. But hey, if you got a dream...

Hoops! Just saw the video above. Didn't factor in the tights or funk metal rapping. Extraordinary isn't the word. I am chastened.
