mmccarthy, you're going straight onto Object's list also.
Heathen.
Haha what list is this, or do I not want to know?

Send Max. Me and the gimp are going to sort him right and proper! -

Object is this massive geezer on this forum, and he's making a list of people that he's going to bitch-slap into the next week.I volunteered you, as you are so amusing.

whoopy flip! sort of proved my point really..."ooh, I sweated out half a stone" " a whole 2 hours.....it nearly killed me!" TdF cyclists sweat half a stone (only 3 litres in reality), burn 8000 calories, ride 200km over between four and six hours, powering themselves, not relying on an engine....no comparison.
if you believe the expensive, tactical marketing from F1 claiming that it's a sport, you're a sucker....they drive cars...it's not athletic.
not athletics, its called *motor-sport *.
Of course its challenging and worthy of its fanfare & money generated by its viewers.
But a skill based sport/game of reaction speeds, daring & wits. Obviously there is some physical exertion involved, but the fittest F1 driver would not be guaranteed to win races.
I personally find motorsports, especially F1 intolerably boring though. Perhaps itd be worth watching if they had manual gearboxes & less computers. Really cant understand how yanks manage to enjoy Nascar.

For wanting Hoy to win? On a FGSS forum? There's something not right there, however, i'm honored that you volunteered me =P

Object is about 22 stone, and an ex-rugby prop forward.
He is known to eat meat raw, then smash heads for fun.
I doubt he'll be too rough with you.
I just hope you don't have any tattoos or piercings. He hates that stuff.

Anyway, next season will be a lot more exciting, less aero, more mechanical grip, more slipsteaming, more overtaking.
They say shit like that every year. And every year, as far as I can see, it's the same old boring gridlocked procession of cars with a little excitement for five seconds after the start, and when someone hits a wall. But never mind about the crashes and everything else. They can always keep building new cars and flying them round the world on a fortnightly basis, right til the end of time, eh?
pompous face

I'll just have to keep my speed up while cycling then =P

If you've seen any of the 2009 cars, you'll know what I mean, much less aero, smaller angled wings, less turbulant air produced, no winglets or barge boards on the body, and slicks, slicks!
Trust me on this one.
WRT the flying, it's no big thing, 30 cars and (admittedly extensive equipment) being flown around less than 20 times a year isn't gonna kill polar bears, if that's what you're getting at
-

I'll believe that when I see it (unlikely as I'll be watching something else).
And I was using the flights as one flippant example of the entire sport's ridiculous and unsustainable consumption. It's the whole damn F1 circus that's killing polar bears and the like - not just through its direct actions, but through the attitudes and culture it engenders. See my previous posts above.
I'll get off my high horse now though, and go for a pint. It's 5.30pm.

"a formula 1 driver can maintain his heart rate between 150-170 bpm for 1 hour and 45 minutes"
Wow. So can I and I'm a fucking washed up bitter whiney alcoholic club level cyclist.
Best line in any post I have ever read.

I'm unfortunately torn. I was born surrounded by motorsport competitors and always wanted to be a speedway-driving motor mechanic.. how times change. I still enjoy watching rallying, touring car racing and speedway but Formula 1 and GP moto events bore me to fucking tears. There you go, 'bike fanatic outted as closet car lover'.
No qualms about kicking the shit out of any fucktard-driven auto that tries to run me over though. :) -

I'm rectally torn. I was born surrounded by homosexual prostitutes and always wanted to be a rent boy. how times change. I still enjoy watching wrestling, weightlifting and speedway but Mr Universe bores me to fucking tears. There you go, 'bike fanatic outted'
No qualms about licking the shit out of any taxi driver that tries to chat me up though. :)this post may contain factual errors

"Computer gaming has to be one of the most physically demanding sports around, during high-tension gameplay I get so excited my heart rate shoots up to 170bpm and can stay there for two hours if I'm really engrossed, I know of no other sport that requires this level of fitness" says gaming champion Preston Buttons "it's really demanding, it's not just sitting down and pressing buttons and turning wheels and since the recent introduction of the rumble-pack and gaming chair my heart rate sometimes touches 190 can you imagine another sportsman achieving that?....I'm amazing! my team think I am too."
High heart rates brought on by excitement, tension, extreme concentration is not an indicator of fitness...we all achieve this....maintaining a heart rate of 170 for two hours though physical exertion (cycling up a mountain for example) is.....we need Dogsballs to clarify this.

What about wanking then. I reckon that sends the heart rate through the roof.

+1 I'm a Motorsport Engineering student, however, I will be cheering Hoy on, if it was Hoy vs Vettel, it'd be a harder decision though.
