Hamilton was not from a rich background, son of some dragons den type character but he is not from a poor background either. Even with three jobs, if he was from a poor background his fatehr would not of been able to support him.
The fact that Hamliton now has to send any potential children to private school is irrelevant as the chances of of someone in his position sending his kids to state school is very small. Same goes for the NHS.
Is he selfish for for running away in order to payless tax? Yes. After all like most of the people that are tax exiles. they earn so much money that the money they save does not really effect their quality of life.
If I suddenly had some sort of crazy success that earn I earn as much as Hamilton would I become a Tax exile? Difficult to say but I'd put down a defiantly maybe. Selfish.
