is there a webcam around city hall? would be fun to watch it live.

If I've understood it "drafting" means that a group rides in formation; the leaders break wind gently while the others ride in the pocket created.
The group saves between 30% - 60% of their energy and progressively faster speeds can be maintained as larger groups mean more wind is dispersed.
If I've got my calculations right then the last 12 people tonight will be doing no pedalling at all and going at speeds of up to 105 mph.

I bet that doesn't smell very pleasant after a couple of beers/kebabs. -

i should point out that 105mph in skinny jeans is dangerous.

That's why Pajamas will be at the front ;)
-
• #785
I'll be breaking enough wind for all the group etc.

EPIC FAIL ALERT!
My fucking seat clamp bolt snapped at westminster bridge. surprisingly nobody had a spare seat clamp bolt with them...
was having a blast aswell
-
• #789
I bailed early due to generally not recovering from my run out this morning. Attempt at a century fail :(
On the other hand that was absofuckinglutely massive. Way over 100 heading towards 150 people out on road.
-
• #790
very disappointed that i missed this tonight.....let me know how it went when anyone gets back
-
• #791
Grrr, if i knew about this and had my wheel i would have came.
When's the next one?
Sounds rad!
-
• #792
i only caught it for about a mile or so near the strand on the way home -i was on a specialized allez, with a patchwork all over print hoodie on, saw some absolutely stunning bikes, it was like a convoy and looked pretty nuts. just felt a little out of place on my bike. . probably should have taken my flat mates lefty.
-
• #793
now even more disappointed sounds like it was a brilliant turn out.......is it over now or could i head down and catch the last few?
-
• #794
That was awesome.
Although I think we're the first back and at home due to two things:
1) We live at Kew Bridge
2) At Putney we got bored of waiting at every bridge for 15 minutes, and just zoomed off to Hammersmith, Barnes, Chiswick and home. But it was a fantastic ride, some really great company, perfect weather... couldn't really ask for more.
-
• #795
And how many of us were there? No official count, but maybe 140?
-
• #796
My apologies if i seemed a bit spaced out when talking to anyone....i think the painkillers i took before the start were kicking in by the time i arrived....then washing them down with a beer probably wasn't wise.
Bailed early due to my dodgy back....but nice to meet some more new faces
:) -
• #797
That was MASSIVE!! I'm so pissed that I had to bail. But it was awesome to see so many people on bikes just out having some fun.
Epic ride bright times.
-
• #798
i waited at vauxhall bridge untill 11pm but i saw no one :(
i was late to be fair, so i zoomed off to Kew by my tod..
Arrived in Kew at 12.00 -12.30 and no one was there ?
It was a last minute thing so maybe i was waiting near the wrong pub.
so i did the ride solo on the way back too..
was a good ride nevertheless, nice smooth roads :) and no traffic lights, heaven ! -

Just home to Walthamstow now. Started with everyone, doubled back to do Blackfriars when everyone seemed to carry on along Embankment, figured I was behind so tanked it over every bridge up to Battersea where I found Hayden from the Cambridge lot. Waited there for 50 mins until the bunch caught us up, rode with them to Putney then got bored of waiting so headed of over Hammersmith, Chiswick etc to Kew at about 1.10.
Thanks to the Cambridge lot for the supply of booze - I owe you guys. Hope your mate whose tyre blew out got back ok.
Fcuk! 2 hours to go, and the list is still growing!
