Are you In the Bristol Fixed facebook group?
-

when you say ride what do you mean by that? there is a bunch of peeps who meet up and trick around, maybe cruise around town a bit already. but if you mean go-for-a-ride, putting a few miles in type of thing, best mention it. i'd be quite up for a ride normally but i have plans already so cant make it this time. keep asking though.

No, don't really use facebook. It was a general thing... cruise around a bit, nothing too streneous. I'd not seen anything recently from the people who meet up.I guess it all happens on facebook now.

the thursday crew meet at the coffee shop by the waterfront (basically, lloyds side of the river, river on your left, go past lloyds and keep going till you get to the new jettys). or at least they did when i met them. it was on one of the threads here, have a search and pm them. davidjohnclapp i think is one guy, ward-a-mercy another, my memory fails me. its on one of the threads though.

Came across you guys last Thurs near the fountains in the waterfront. Was on foot coming back from Aikido, otherwise I'd have joined up for a ride.

He's right.
It's been hit or miss because of the weather lately, basically...but we've all been sort of relying on the consensus that Thursday night is the right night and the Harbourside is the spot...we then take it from there.
We branched out for a ride and a pint last week and left the tricks behind.
Whatever happens...quite simply happens.
Please do come out. -

..actually, the trick is that a small group of us have been friends for a real long time, riding together all the time...we then became acquainted with the Fifty-Fifty guys and decided to set aside a convenient night once a week to get together and ride but it was Ward-a-mercy that introduced me to the forum after a chance encounter one evening...the facebook group has recently became another grapevine.
I'll try to keep both groups informed, if anything interesting comes up other than the usual Thursday night ride. -

Did anyone get out last night?
I'm commuting to bath at the moment, so I'm pretty much cycled-out most nights!
-
• #14
Ward-a-mercy - where do you commute from/to?
I also commute (on gears tho atm....) from Bristol (Bedminster) to Bath (lwr Bristol rd) - will have to look out for you :) -
• #15
Group ride back from Bath on monday night?
-
• #16
danb - I also commute on gears (shhhh...they'll never know!) from Totterdown to near Sainsbury's off Upper Bristol Road.
steamroller - I'd be up for a group ride back at some point, but Monday's no good for me, as I'm going to the Velodrome at Newport with some people from work!
Maybe we could do it another day next week? I might even consider manning-up to the arse-pain and doing it on my fixed-gear (oo-er!).
-
• #17
Cool.... Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are good for me.Dare I suggest using the saddle off your you 'other' bike to ease the pain?
-
• #18
It's a fair suggestion!
-
• #19
How would you feel about doing it the following week? Maybe Monday night?
danb?
I've lent my fixed-gear to a mate whilst he gets his car fixed so he can see how he gets on with one. (He's currently complaining of a sore arse!) Should have it back after next week.
-
• #20
Sounds good... How does your mate find trackstanding in his car? Can he skid?

He's getting his car fixed? - what does that entail - removal of clutch/gearbox/brakes? :)
That week I won't be out of work till 7 so later next week (Friday?) would be better for me

Ward - are you going to the evening session?
-
• #23
Was - but it was fully booked up. You can only phone up to book from Sunday morning at 9am for the following Monday, and you can only get two slots per person. The guy who phoned up for me started trying at 9am, got through at 9.15am and all the tickets were gone.
It's like frickin' Glasto tickets!
steam / danb - I keep telling him that brakeless in a car in Bristol is a mistake, but he just won't listen...
-
• #24
yeah it's like that. monday was the first time i've managed to get booked on in 4 weeks.
hopin to block book a few weeks next time so i can go for accreditation.
