Ally bars are always a bit suspect, and considering the loads not surprisingly so. Look where it's failed - where the inner sleeve AND the outer clamp both end. Bit of daft design. Bromptons had a problem with early ally bars and I always check mine very carefully as a result. But tough luck and good work in staying on!
