Your Experiences with Toe Clips?

Pedals like that arent designed for 'whatever the hell shoes you want to wear' but hard soled cycling shoes.

I have some nice campagnolo ones and also used to have the shimano ones on a geared bike. If you wear thin soled shoes like vans, on long rides you can feel the shape of the pedal dig into the soles of your feet. When wearing thicker soled onitsuka's etc, you can feel the metal cages irratating your toes.

The most comfortable secure cages for fixed on the street is MKS mtb platform cage pedals, with the large plastic toeclip. The large plastic clips hold your foot deepdly and securely and fit one a wider range of shoes, easily fitting around chunky modern skate shoes aswell as skinny ones. Unlike metal cages which are more size specific, more likeley to snap & make a horrible noise when scraping along the ground.

Flat mtb pedals are also double sided which is convenient if your practicing tricks, in a fluster at traffic lights etc.

In terms of those shimano pedals, I had a 105 version with soft grey rubber toeclips, these were really comfortable and secure.

In general, I think getting a toeclip that fits properly is most important, then start worrying about double strapping.

I read that from a few different users but its never been a problem for me at all.
