Good point - what about germany or switzerland? I've seen some awesome track bikes on german ebay, but haven't looked for touring stuff. I guess it might be all new stuff with those funny butterfly handlebars they like so much. If the UK shipping is that bad you could buy something on UK ebay and take an easyjet flight here, spend a weekend in london and take the bike back.
