they were predicting it'd have parity with the US dollar by mid next year 3 or 4 months ago. it sucks shit for getting anything from overeas.
-
• #3
it's great for sending money home though.

if you send loads of $$$$$ to oz and that earns interest while you continue to reside here, for that interest, is that to be taxed in oz or here?
-
• #5
i have no idea. do they tax interest?
-
• #6
yep. however tiny it was here, had to send it over to my accountant. anyway, aussie banks are the worst for rates and fees. besides, im on the run from HECS repayments. mine's prob about half-a-house in total (owing) now :(
-
• #7
HECS, man i owe $28k, but with an EU passport those suckers can kiss my ass. also, you can't send more than a £2k from UK to other country's with-out getting interogated and reamed by UK banks.
-
• #8
mine's prob about that. last i checked, i was on about $10k. that was 8yrs ago now. a mate told me that the TaxOffice is going after expats now. dunno if it's true or not. and rather not know to be honest
-
• #9
Beware? Why? It's great news for sending money back when the rates are fucked.
£7 to send a wad of cash back through 1st Contact sounds good to me. What's all this rates/charges bollocks?
-
• #10
I don't owe HECS.. suckers!

Pizza was one of the best programs in recent memory. I love SBS. I was so happy when they started broadcasting Vasilis Garden. Its gone bnack to channel 31 now which is devastating as we cant get a picture at our place in Melbs.
Vasilis Garden = quality!
