Scientific computing is obviously very mathematical. If your good with programming / developing F.E.M, Finite difference / volume methods then that's a good start. You don't need to be a computer expert for scientific computing initially (well you need to be able to program but scientific code is in general not the best written code out there) you need to learn the computing stuff at a high level eventually but the main requirement is the maths.
My maths is probably my best subject, so I should be okay, wanna move into it slowly.
