Thanks Platini...i have his dog and bone number.....but though he would be reasonable....expensive on petrol.....prefer more local if at all possible.

I know Marxist Fixie knows his stuff, so hopefully this will be taken in the spirit it's intended, but was just wondering why?
My understanding is that track ends would lower the BB shell height, making pedal strike more likely. Was just wondering what the benefit is, apart from cosmetic?

Mooks..you flatter me...and i do take your comments in the spirit they were intended.....And you are mostly correct....but i would call it aesthetics.....the frame in question has vertical drop outs and is Italian which according to Kiwi Cycles has a higher bottom bracket than its English counterparts.....So i would check first. The only alternative is an Eno eccentric hub...which is more costly than track ends....hence not just cosmetic. My frame [a Coppi] has very tight clearances..so will an Eno Eccentric do the job or lose some or all of is range of adjustment...this is a guess....anybody has a definitive comment on the ENO eccentric hub...i know this changes the slant of this thread but the aim...turning the Coppi into a happy fixie...Cheers

Job's a good 'un - if track ends are cheaper then I'd go down that route. What's the cost in puppies?

Kiwi Cycles quoted me 80 sovs...awaiting SuperTed's reply. My trackend of choice is the Paul Component stainless steel one as it has an integrated axle keeper to maintain chain tension and cost 35 sovs but worth it IF they can be fitted retrospectively.

Vaz's brother (who works at Chas Roberts) will do it for you for about 60 notes, that was the price last year anyway...

Thanks eyesbrows and Tynan for pointing me towards SuperTed [Wales only superhero].....Mooks..I spoke to SuperTed about your fears of a lowered BB...and he said that done properly, if anything the BB will be raised....Ted pointed me the direction of Armourtex for a poweder coating job.....do they do bubblegum pink?....Cheers and thanks everybody

Thanks Rupert for your kind offer but i must decline your services as the frame is expensive and perhaps it sems you need more practice.....RV is another matter as he is more experienced.....and comes with the recommendation of both Rik and andy at Bicycle Ambulance in Cambridge...and i have sent RV a pm...awaiting his return from Thailand and i will discuss it with him...cheers.

I hope you took the comment in the spirit it was meant.....mind you RV is a bit reluctant to do the job because he does not want to cock up a Coppi!

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen.....Can any one recommend someone who can remove road dropouts and replace them with trackends and road braze-ons [steel frame] and does not cost an arm and a leg. The best offer, i have had so far is £80 from Kiwi Cycles, at the other end of the scale was Bike-fix....who charge harrods prices...sorry make that Argos prices [effectively the same] at a whopping £150!....Cheers
