  • 531 is AWESOME!

i'm lpg and i approve this message.

  • whats going on with the grips? are they just track grips covering the whole bars?

    Yes... http://www.londonfgss.com/thread12131.html

no due to chain reaction's flood sale certain batches of nitto risers have been damaged, allowing a advantageous hipster infection to take hold.
the disease causes risers to look like they're covered in a rubbery grip like substance, and their riders to reply in cuntish overly effusive and pointless ways.

  • Just taken delivery of 531 claud butler majestic frame, from late 70's i think. Will post pics later.

soyo's all the way to the stem ;)

  • strong v's are much nicer :)

    are they in 531?

  • T-shirt then?

  • Just inspecting frame now I'm home and have some time... it appears to have a slight bend on the drive side seat stay... just bends in a tiny bit, doesn't look like an impact bend though?

It's a Claud Butler Majestic - anyone know/ reckon if this is design, something to be repaired, or a show stopper with regards to making use of it? Be a bit miffed if it's the last, risks of ebaying I guess though.

Also has small hole inside top of seat tube (where this meets the top tube)... I'm guessing this isn't ideal?

    Pics now here.

    Frame just unwrapped

  • hmm i'm not too sure about the soyos all the way to the stem like that on such narrow bars. It's a bit like the bicycle equivalent of a monobrow...

    jus sayin'.

  • frame seems alright, and i cannot see the bend in the chainstay, and the hole in the seat stay is normal.

  • The bend is on the seat stay just where the background of the cardboard box becomes the floor on the right side.
    Kinda hard to see.

    That's the one...

As Rosmal said - Seatstay has the bend.

and the hole in the seat stay is normal.

    That's cool. Ta.

  • Could be by design. Just build it and see what happens.
The top tube hole is normal. I think it's for venting/cooling when the thing was built. Get some frame builder to tell you though.

Cool. Search found me someone who has one, so I've sent a Private Message to ask for a definitive answer, and bumped one of his threads on the subject.

  • Currently working towards this. Basically there but for the respray and some expensive decals. I want my Bianchi to become the pretty Italian racer it was born to be.

  • Watch this space... fuji track pro... building it slow with some exspensive parts.
    will be a shiner.
    I HOPE.
and no im not selling the vivalo..... ever.

Go full chrome on the forks (IMO)

  • Hey, soma do a lugged threaded or threadlesd chrome track fork, that be a perfect combine with the decal and colour.

    +1
If the hole in the seat tube goes into the top tube, then it is probably there to vent gases during the welding process.

As for the seatstay bend. Put a very true wheel in, and see if it lines up with the seat tube. If it does then all is well. Looks to me, to be part of the design though (something to do with gears and stuff).

Or you could chrome those forks for about £30, which is what I did.

  • Might stay all chrome, but the partially painted forks balance the bike out a bike, still mulling it over. Be a shame to paint on the beautiful forks I have.

    White drops!

  • cheap but reliable stuff;

System EX track hubs (36 holes for strength)
Diatech Dirty Harry brake levels (replaced by a Dia Compe dual levels)
    pedal is standard MKS
clips is standard chrome steel NJS clip and strap from Condor
    brake is cheap shimano tiagra
I have American Apparel boxer short on, grey shirt from Super Superficial, shoes from Vans, socks from M&S, jean from Levi´s, and body that has been conceived 23 years ago my mother´s eggs and father´s sperm.
