Actually a better anti-theft would be a very loud alarm instead of that, you can easily get away with that paint thing since in the middle of the night.
I mean this is London, if a tramp throw a can at you, what do you do? acknowledge his presence? shout some profanity at him? pick up the can and throw it in a bin? no, you simply walk on as if it never happened, who is going to look twice at a yob with white paint on his jean/jacket?
