hey everyone just had my 48cm Gold Dave Russell track bike stolen from outside the Royal exchange in the city specs to follow, its gold with a gold front wheel, campagnolo pista cranks, and so much unique, and irreplaceable stuff on it Im absolutely gutted. Tange levin NJS headset, Campy pista BB, Brooks B17 Copper saddle, Mavic CXP 30 silver laced Crows foot to Brampton hub with 18t frewheel, Conti gatorskin tyres, Malliard front hub both 36H, Im fucking so angry as it was a labour of love to put together, and if I ever see anyone riding a gold bike I will hammer them and ask questions afterwards.
How was it locked up?? There seem to be so many bikes getting nicked at the moment.
1+ and where did you lock it up? how long did you leave it for? what kind of lock did you use?

it was locked up with a good quality armoured chain the chain alone cost §50 ! I had lent it to my GF as its too small for me but not her fault as cunts will be cunts, pixs to follow.

a £25 chain isn't as strong as an £25 small D-lock, a chain lock at that price range are actually easy to cut with the right tools.
-
• #55
It's also about HOW you lock it up sometimes. Bad luck dude. Hope you find it.

was locked up outside the hermes shop at the royal exchange, shit loads of people hanging around and cameras everywhere, GF mates with the security guards so gonna try get photo stills of the guys who took it.

.

• #62
by armoured chain, you meant that?
-
• #63
no it was a chain I got abroad, obviously not as strong as I thought it was - was a cable with a steel wrap around.
-
• #64
alright that's a pretty shit chain.
honestly matem you spend all your time and money building the bike the way you want it, and end up using a cheap chain lock to protect it? it kinda defeating the purpose.
-
• #65
Thanks for your honesty I kind of think that if they had wanted it they would have got it anyway they were obviously pretty savvy as to the value of the components
-
• #66
a good pair of bolt croppers will get through just about any chain anyway, thats what theyre designed to do
-
• #67
feel for you dude, 3 times is way too much.
but as edscoble pointed out you really do need to invest in a HIGH quality chain/d lock.
-
• #68
except decent D-lock like the kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini, honestly one of my £45 chain got cut through easily (as it appear), but the Fah Mini only have mark of attempt.
i must says I apologise for sounding too frank and heartless (just realise that), I feel for your loss, especially the time and effort you spend on the bike, unlike simply buying an OTP.

If any one sees a matt black folder at BL with black bmx wheels new black tyres, black grips on cut down bars, black primo pedals, black saddle, new black Dirt Harry levers and u-brakes with adapters and 55DSL sticker on the frame(i'm sure you get the picture it's black okay)
Chrome mud and chain guards to complete the retrofuturebmxshopper look that every one is talking about.
If i do get it back i promise to buy a NYFU tomorrow!
