  • I like him too x

  • @countrybiker - nice bike for £30. What saddle is that btw? It doesn't look very comfortable.

"I were right about that saddle though"; free (virtual) beer if you know the provenance.

  • ^Hovis?

  • originally posted in bike porn but i guess thats not where it belongs so i moved it here.

Hello London, greetings from San Francisco. Thought I'd share the stable... Dont ask me how I ended up with 3 (i actually have a 4th frameset) English bicycles in California, it just kind of happened. What can I say, you guys make solid machines...

late 70s, early 80's Geoffery Butler track bike, actually made by roberts. Reynolds 531, Fillet brazed. Zipp hubs laced to Araya ADX-510 rims (one gold nipple on each wheel. heh.), C-Record cranks, Gold Campaganolo BMX chainring, Gold EAI superstar cog. Thomson post, Brooks Swift TI, Cinelli stem and bars, Phil BB, Ofmega headset.

Miles CX bike, made by my friend Joshua Thayer here in San Francisco's Hunters Point (aka GHETTOS!). Fillet as well, a mix of columbus tubing. Chris King Cross hubs to Ceramic Open Pros. 11-32 xt cassette, 42t Specialiities TA ring on Campagnolo Chorus compact cranks. Record 9 speed shifters running via a jtek shiftmate to an XTR mid cage derailleur. Paul Neo retro brakes in front, touring cantis in the rear. Paul interupter levers and moon units. Crank Bros Cobalt SL headset, Thomson post, TI Rolls saddle, Deda Shallow bars and Newton stem. The bike that gets ridden the most. I'll paint it in the spring.

My most recent aquisition. I dont consider this one done yet. 1970 Jack Taylor sport touring bike. Nuovo record, cinelli, schmidt generator, honjos. whee.

the oddball of the group. Carlton Flyer from 1945, with sturmey archer asc 3 speed fixed gear hub. Mafac racer centerpulls, nervar cranks. Titan stem and bars, french city bike levers, campy seatpost and a wright saddle i got for cheap.

bikes ive had in the past but no longer are in my possesion (or have built for other people). single tear

my old 3 rensho (frame was too small, sent to the ebay gods)

another configuration of the same bike

rossin (i hated this thing, but everyone else liked it)

    carlton touring

frejus track (i was given a blank check by the founder of the furniture company design within reach to build anything i wanted. this is what i built, full vintage record with wooden rims)

and finally heres me, crusing around during the mission path race a couple weeks ago.

  • sweet work onetwentyeight, some really nice rides. some made me think you and London's very own Skully of London Town, others, well, there's something there for the whole family.

    the Rossin is my fave.

countrybiker, the claud reminds me of my polo bike. don't mean that disrespectfully, i like my old claud. great work dude, particularly for 30 notes, that's just 22 Gs

  • Fuck me! You greedy c**t! ;)

    Nice collection dude!

  • welcome to the forum 128, nice collection you have there also I agree with Jonny, that Rossin in pure lust

  • Esp. like the Carlton Flyer

  • Yellow pages

  • thanks for the compliments. i still hate the rossin! :P

  • So you selling it then?

  • traded it to rafaelle giordano in stokholm for the carlton flyer around 2 years ago. (i believe hes a friend of roberto's). he ended up selling it on ebay. i have no idea where it is now. it was aelle tubing, nothing special. it just had a ridiculous paintjob :)

  • just built myself a raleigh activator 2 conversion, pics very soon. radical cowabunga.

  • My new ride, face remains the same.

    scandium = superb

  • the last page of this thread give me a warm glow :-)

countrybiker, build, onetwentyeight, slack, fabulous bikes. big <3

  • @ onetwentyeight: What happened to the old white track frame (below) you've got up on velospace? Seem to remember you thought it was a Stan Miles/Condor/Bill Hurlow... I had an identical one, sold to asm on this forum a coupla months ago... Turned out to be a 50s Phillips... And welcome, sweet stable of rides there you bastard... ;D

  • i was nailed by a hit and run driver while riding it and bent the frame. i got it repaired but ive never built it back up again. its hanging out in my room as wall art.

  • Riding in the Peak District.

Since moving to HK it now looks like this, although I still have the nitto moustache bars, nitto drops and nitto bullhorns i rotate onto the bike depending on my mood. It now stay brake free all the time:

  • has someone put those bars on as a joke?

love he bike though apart from that.
    and the felt is niceeee

  • i assume you're talking about the super narrow cut bars with oury grips. Yeah i put them on for a bit of fun, make's a change. They're up real high to learn a few tricks, the HK boys are more about tricks than speed. So i'm having to learn.

  • Finally finished my first fixed gear conversion. A Cannondale SM700 mtb I've had since new 1988...

    From this:

    To this:

Might not be to everyones taste but I love it.
