Nicked bike story

There was a moderately famous case about a man (Tony Martin) who SHOT a burglar with his shotgun and then got banged up himself. Of course, pulling a shotgun on an intruder is not justifiable as self defence. It was also the case that the shooter in question had a reputation for being a nasty bugger with a violent streak as wide as the Mersey. Note that the burglar was also charged and imprisoned.

All of the above legal facts and judgement did nothing to stop the NIMBY brigade from assuming that loads of people are getting banged up for lightly stroking a burglar's face with a baby-wipe.

There were two burglars. Martin shot both and one died of his injuries in the grounds of Martin's house.
