Yeh, skin is waterproof. That doesn't stop you getting cold when it's wet though does it? And by breathable I guess you mean you sweat through it; you certainly don't *breath *through it.

A little learning is a dangerous thing.I think your both missing the important point that you dont really sweat through your shins. And as were talking about them in an exposed situation, they get ample cooling too.

Ahh winter... Went down hard on the geared bike today - turning right on a roundabout, car approaching from the left didn't slow, much less stop. Dabbed the brake but the bike was already sliding out on the wet, greasy road. If my cleats had released my bike would have slid under the wheels. They did stop to make sure I was ok, but had gone by the time I'd got off the roundabout.
Told myself to HTFU and finish the ride though - good feeling.
I need 28s. Grippy, grippy 28s...

I ride exactly the same bike in exactly the same way all year round. Only addition is crappy lights. never bothered with a mud guard
1+, still even sporting tyres that has no thread pattern at all.

I rode to Hillingdon and watched some maniacs racing in the wet. Enormous pools of water everywhere on the return, so much rain I could barely see to ride.

I got covered in shite riding today... so thought I'd fit these to my crappy Peugeot (it has eyelets).
They are the SKS P35 mudguards and I've read they're good. Anyone used them? Are there are better models out there?3 years ago I had a shit pair of Raceblades that wouldn't stay put. I tore them off on Exmoor... I can't recommend them.

If it's for your fix**, you might consider getting an extra set of the qr plastic fittings that come with the front guard, to use on the rear.
They're a good idea on the front, believe me, but useful for wheel changes on the rear.
But you probably knew this already.
i was waiting for some wise guy to say that.... rain tends to make all the shit on the ground gather towards the gutter and a bit of glass that was in the gutter went into my tyre...
