• Hi everyone - great forum. I'm sure this question has come up before but I could really do with some advice.

I've been collecting parts to build up a bike. I have a nice 531 comp frame with 130 mm rear dropouts. My wheels are Mavic rims on Formula with a surly cog. I have Stronglight St-1000 cranks with a 49t chainring and a Sugino 103 mm bb, as recommended by Outspoken where I got them.

I put it all together and...the chainring arms clip the chainstay, and this is with the rear drops tightened down onto the 120 mm hub. So, I guess I have to get a longer bb, right? But a 107 mm bb will throw my chainline out by 2mm, and I will still only have 2 mm clearance between the chainring arms and the frame.

I wish now I had invested in a 130 mm hub and got a longer bb to start with, but what is my best solution now, given that I must keep my wheelset, cranks, chainring etc? Should I look for a different frame or should I just get a 107 mm bb and live with a chainline which is 2 mm out? I would put a spacer behind the cog but I really don't think there's room on the thread - or would a different cog allow for more adjustment?

    Help, please!
