Steel.
as it's steel you might be able to cold set it to 120mm - Prav, can you cold set in as well as out?
-
• #479
(please say titanium, please say titanium, please say titanium...)
I could, but I'd be telling porkies.
It's Steel 531. I've a few other frames of different materials, not for project fixie though... they're roadies, except the two mtb'ies, one of which is a kinda roadie.

yes! just bolt the hub in there to squeeze it to 120, no need to bend it - my frame has been like this for almost 2 years. time flies, eh?
(Dogsballs was a far more valuable member when he only posted Big LEbowski quotes... before he thought he knew anything about bicycles and suchlike.. :-P) -

You mean he hasn't been quoting Lebowski for the last year???

How long has he been on your ignore list?
-

some things never change, eh wayno?
This place has been cliquey and unfriendly for ages...
EDIT - post #44 proves that object is not normal.Interesting. I guess now Forums are more commonplace, some of us forum newbies might just have experienced other forums, and so take a different approach to the clique-unwelcome response to a first post.
All these guys/gals want to do is put the newcomer in his place. Good effort guys/gals - I'd give it an 8/10. Nice to meet you already, so... where do I need to stand?
Maybe I can start a newbie conga line?
-
• #485
@ wayno Yeah, bit later on though.. (working in Bapsildon, esSEX)
feckin' 150 minute commute!
@ bhs - CONGA! -

re: "fixie". someone who quite happily says "fixie" would be pretentious as fuck to start saying "fixed gear bike" after being chided by the pedants on here. Work that one out.
I don't understand this little poo so many people on here do when anyone says "fixie". Go back through the old threads, many early people were happily bandying the term around. And they still use it in the States unselfconsciously - that's right, The States, home of the original fixie..

I think dogsballs would be happy to confirm that that frame material is awesome.

rhb, in amongst your little meander to find cartoons did you notice that this cliquey bunch had given you the answer to your 126mm spacing problem

Sorry if I wasn't clear, you don't need to bother cold-setting. just get a 120mm rear wheel, and as you tighten the bolts the dropouts will spring in a little bit.
I've done thousands of miles with this setup, no probs. (and none of those fiddly chain tensioners either) -
