lose crank bolt maybe

funny that.
I had exact same problem, big squeak only when honking uphill.
checked crank bolts, made sure nothing was flaping loose and lubed the pedals.
it stopped, so I assume it was the pedal axles.
guess you have to check over evything, or try some different pedals to rule that out

will go with more chain lube in the morning and checking tightness of everything.

make sure the pedals bolt is well lubed, thats what drove me nuts for a week.
It squeaked in the crank thread only when pushing hard up hillsWe want silent bikes !

I think I might be having a similar issue. I recently bought a 2008 Fillmore, and within 2-3 weeks, I noticed it has been squeaking when I pedal... mainly when climbing. I cannot figure out the cause. I assume it might be the bottom bracket or maybe the cranks. Any thoughts?

mice?

No, I checked with Cousin Larry and he says he doesn't think it's mice. Mice infestations may be a problem in Mypos, but I've not heard of that being an issue here in London.

i might be wrong, but judging by past experience it very much seems to me as though your bicycle is making this noise.

Yes, it is the bicycle. But what part of the bicycle is the £50,000.00 question...
-
• #11
yes, for sure, definitely the bicycle. if i had to narrow it down i'd say one of the bits where the metal is in contact with other metal.

Chris, I don't think oiling the petals will do anything, because the flowers aren't directly connected to the drivetrain.
Regarding the ATACs, it's worth putting a drop of oil on either side of each rubber washer that sits between the pedal body and axle. Just squeeze them so you get a little gap, put one drop of oil in, and rotate. Those rubber bits sometimes develop a squeak after wet/mucky rides.

check the end caps are nice and tight. I had a similar prob, and that sorted it. Put a bit of plumbers tape on the threads to stop it happening again.

End caps? Like on the handlebars?

I suggest mouse traps

bear traps if it's a big sqeak

Wouldn't those be more appropriate for a growl?
my time attaks are squeaking, i thought it was my cleat (which was a bit lose) but i tightened that and it has not stopped. squeaking started when i oiled the petals a few days back. any ideas, it is left foot and only on the power stroke, haven't noticed it when skidding, only starting or on hills.
